
Open Internet Explorer and go to http://gmail.com/
You will find a link to SIGN UP FOR GMAIL
This will take you to the form to complete. All the Yellow boxes are essential information.
When you have selected the gmail address you prefer.. click on check availability as your first option might not be available.
Password must be a minimum of 8 characters
You can choose a security question or write your own. This option is to help if you have forgotten your password. Remember the secondary Email address will be where your password information will be sent. Make sure it is an active account which you can access now and in the future.
Take the tick out of Enable web history
Complete the word verification
Click on Accept and Create my Account
You will be sent an EMail with your password and details. Save, Print and keep safely!
To enable POP in your Google Mail account, please follow these steps:
Log in to your Google Mail account.
Click 'Settings' at the top of any Google Mail page.
Click 'Forwarding and POP' in the orange 'Mail Settings' box.
Select 'Enable POP for all mail' or 'Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.'
Choose the action that you would like your Google Mail messages to take after they are accessed with POP. ( Suggest you select ARCHIVE)
Click 'Save Changes.'
Return to the ´Forwarding and POP ´option page
You can take the option to download and run the auto-configuration tool or configure manually.
Auto configuration
Run the auto-configuration tool Click 'Open,' and select the program you'd like to use with Google Mail.
Enter your Google Mail username (everything before '@gmail.com') in the 'E-mail address:' field.
Enter your name in the 'Display name:' field.
Click 'Configure.'
Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send and retrieve Google Mail messages.
To configure your manually:
Open Outlook or Outlook Express.
Click the 'Tools' menu, and select 'Accounts...'
Click 'Add,' and then click 'Mail...'
Enter your name in the 'Display name:' field, and click 'Next.'
Enter your full Google Mail email address (username@gmail.com) in the 'Email address:' field, and click 'Next.'
Enter 'pop.googlemail.com' in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:' field. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' field.
Click 'Next.'
Enter your Google Mail username (including '@gmail.com') in the 'Account name:' field. Enter your Google Mail password in the 'Password:' field, and click 'Next.'
Click 'Finish.'
Highlight 'pop.gmail.com' under 'Account,' and click 'Properties.'
Click the 'Advanced' tab.
Tick the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
Tick the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming mail (POP3).' The port will change to 995.*The order of 'Outgoing' and 'Incoming' mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
Click the 'Servers' tab, and tick the box next to 'My server requires authentication.'
Click 'OK.'
Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send and retrieve Google Mail messages.
* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in Google Mail? To ensure that Google Mail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click 'Save Changes' on the Google Mail 'Mail Settings' page.
