Housekeeping

Best Download site for Security Software

There are just a few things to watch out for when downloading from the site.

  1. Search for the program you want
  2. Read carefully as the top banner will probably be for a different ulity. Usually a Fast Tune up. Etc. This is not what you want so check that you select Download beneath the required program
  3. Do NOT agree to the CNET update Tracking.. less sites tracking you the better
  4. During the install of any program, especially free ones always read the screen and take the ticks out of boxes for extra tool bars, auto updates, forums etc.
  5. Do NOT select the Startup menu icon or anything else offered except a Desktop Icon which is OK
  6. Apart from that this site os good for professional and users reviews and will be virus free

FREE AVG Antivirus. Sometimes they hide this link well in order to tempt you into the paid version. Here is the link to the free version and some installation tips. Two minutes of reading now might help time spent uninstalling or sorting out afterwards.

  1. http://free.avg.com/gb-en/free-antivirus-download is the link nut make sure you select under the FREE VERSION
  2. Select the CUSTOM install and take out the tick against the Additional languages
  3. Watch all questions and decline all offers of toolbars etc by deselecting the ticked box
  4. Let it complete the intelligent scan after installation as it will flag all files that will never change so that subsequent scans will be faster.

Spyware and Malware Checkers

From Cnet download Superantispyware and Malware Bytes

Again check FREE Versions.. no extras and No Startup Menu icons
Update and run full scans on these monthly.
If any problems are found let the program remove or clean as recommended.

Cookies
What Cookies Do to Your PCs
Cookies are browser dependent and are essentially text files that contain information your browser saves on one of this folders for some websites that do send out cookies. By themselves, cookies pose no risk since they do not contain virus in any form nor do they spy on your PC content to compromise security. They are used to make online surfing faster and easier by make the sites you’ve visited remember who you are, like remembering you IP address or passwords, along with your own preferences such as when Amazon recommend a book or music CD similar to what you looked for in your
There are few general goals that are accomplished by the usage of cookies:
  • To notify the Web site that you have visited it in the past. This information can be used to block some one-time services (for example Web pools, one-time promotional services, etc.).
  • To remember your user name and password so that you don't need to enter them each time when you visit this Web site.
  • To remember your personal information that is important to the Web site you are visiting. It can be your name, personal preferences, advertising information, etc.
  • To show you a different ad each time when you visit the site or similar ads to ones that you have clicked in the past.
As you can see there are plenty of ways for cookies to threaten your privacy. Even if it seems that the purpose of some cookies is innocent they still reveal the fact that you have visited this specific Web site. Furthermore, the Web site can update the cookie every time you visit its pages, adding new usage information. Cookies remain on your computer as long as their creator decides (from few days to many years). Some cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser (so called session cookies) but others can stay on your PC virtually forever.
It depends on the BROWSER you use how you delete cookies but it follows this format
You can easily remove any cookies that have been created in the cookie folder of your browser. For example, if you are on Windows machine, here are the steps on how to use Windows Explorer to erase cookie files:
  • Click on 'Windows Explorer'
    * Select the 'Search' button on the tool bar
    * Enter “cookie” into the search box field for 'Folders and Files'
    * Choose 'My Computer' in the 'Look In' drop down menu
    * Click on 'Search Now'
    * Select and open the folders that are retrieved
    * Click to highlight any cookie file
    * Click the 'Delete' key to erase the cookie file
This is a link which gives full instructions for other browsers.

Utility Programs to Manage Cookies, Temporary Files, Browsing History etc

Two programs I recommend and again can be downloaded from CNET

CCleaner FREE
  1. http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=mncol;1
  2. Again ignore and add-ons and icons in start-up menu
  3. It will complete an intelligent cookie scan first to establish was it thinks to be ‘good cookies’ like banking security cookies
  4. Then complete a preview and establish what space it will find. Make sure that you are happy about clearing your deleted items and history. Anything you have any doubts about just uncheck the box beside it.
  5. Rescan and accept the clean up.

Advanced System Care FREE
Again ignore any add-ons , upgrades and icons in start-up menu. Be VIGILANT with this one as it does try to add quite a lot of extra software
Run a Quick Care
On a Monthly Basis Run Deepcare and let the program solve any problems.

Read the reviews from CNet and Users and some have also got Video Tutorials on using the software.

Change to Google’s Privacy Policy
Nothing is ever for FREE so all our Google services like browser, email, maps, translation etc etc have a natural payback. FACEBOOK is now worth billions of dollars when in fact they trade no commodity. Their value is in their database and personal information that users have readily volunteered. Information that is  very valuable to the commercial world who want to tempt us into spending money and even into debt. Google gathers it by watching the web pages we browse to, the items we show an interest in, the places we book for holidays and the goods we purchase.

The Legislators are looking at how they gather this information and how they use it and what the victims can do about it. Whilst they debate for years to come it is time to look at how, we the users, can invoke damage limitation.
Although this topic is centred around Google because of the recent change to its Privacy Policy, all the Internet services fall within the same category. MSN, WindowsLive, Yahoo, Skype, etc Therefore the options below relate to all the services.
 TIPS
    • EMAIL: We have free Email accounts but we do not need to be signed in at all times. Why are we lazy and allow the account to ‘remember’ our password and sign in automatically? Make sure you know your account password and sign OUT when not using. Sign in to send mail created and waiting delivery in the OUTBOX. Receive mail then  SIGN OUT.  Follow this procedure for all the applications linked to your Google account like Youtube, Picasa etc. The default setting is to ARCHIVE Emails on the web after they have been downloaded to our computers. Just log in to your account on the web and be surprised how many messages are in your ALLMAIL Box. Try deleting them on a regular basis and keeo them to the minimum. Of course my pet hate .. DO NOT SEND Emails to multiple addressees with their contact details exposed. Use Bcc.
    •  Contacts.. we allow all sorts of programs to store our contact list from E Greeting Cards to purchases made and sent to friends and of course Skype. Think about keeping them short and tidy.

    • BROWSING  Why send in the sniffer dogs to find someone when we probably have the direct address?  Type in the http://www   address directly into the address bar and keep your searches to a minimum
        • HISTORY;.. clear your history frequently

        • PASSWORDS.. reject the offer to save or remember passwords.

          • COOKIES  clear out your cookies on a regular basis.. see above for help on achieving this.

So we cannot close, lock and secure all the doors and Big Brother out there has more on us than we will ever know, but a little home housekeeping will help .
If in doubt about a SCAM or a potential Virus laden Email then check it out with http://www.hoax-slayer.com/ do not just rely on the fact that the person who sent you a message  is pretty computer savvy.. We all make mistakes especially if the subject is TO MY SPECIAL VALENTINE!

            GMail Passwords

Your password should be easy for you to remember without being obvious for someone else to guess.

Don't choose a dictionary word as your password.

Include a variety of characters, such as punctuation marks, numbers, and mix capital and lowercase letters.

            Never tell anyone your password.

Never write down your password. Even if you don't think that somebody would know that it was your Gmail password if they saw it, think of a way to remember it so that you don't have to write it down.

            Periodically change your password.

            How to Change GMail Password

Go to Gmail.com and sign in with your EMail address and Password

Click the gear icon at the top of any Gmail page or Emailname and select Account Settings , then Mail settings, and open the Accounts and Import tab.

In the 'Change account settings' section, click Change password.

In the new window, enter your current password and your new password.

Make sure you create a unique password to help keep someone from breaking in to your account.

            Changing your recovery email address

You don't have to provide a recovery email address, but we strongly encourage you to. Once you've started using Gmail, we'll use your recovery email address to communicate with you under the following circumstances:

We need to confirm your username after you create an address

You can't log in to Gmail

            You've forgotten your password

You're about to run out of storage space

We need to alert you to any unusual activity involving your address

How to change your recovery email address
            Sign in to Gmail.

Click the gear icon or Tools at the top right of any Gmail page, then Mail settings, and open the Accounts and Import tab.

Click Change password recovery options in the 'Change account settings' section.

Select Recovering your password under Personal Settings. You may be prompted to re-enter your password to help verify your password and protect your account.

Click Add an email address if you don't have a recovery email address set already, or click the Edit link next to your current recovery email address to change it.

Click Save to make your changes.

Close the Google Account window using your browser's Close button if you don't want to sign out of Gmail just yet.

We may sometimes ask you to verify that your recovery email address is still correct. We'll show you what we have on record and ask you to visit your Google Account settings to make any changes.

Never send confidential or personal information, including your password, via email.

            Use Strong Passwords!

The number one technique you can possibly implement. Hackers are experts at programming computers to plough through huge amounts of data very quickly. That’s the reason longer passwords are more secure; the number of possible combinations grows exponentially with every extra character added.

Hackers employ a technique called “dictionary attack” where they repeatedly try username and password combinations by running through hundreds of common words, phrases, numbers and combination them till they get lucky. It’s important you use random strings like “j@m13s(!)” instead of perhaps “jamie123″

            Christmas Free ECards - Links

Save a Tree and Send Ecards this Christmas!

            JIBJAB http://sendables.jibjab.com/

These are fun and quite easy to create. Just a few tips. First of all ADSL is a MUST!

Faces.. you will probably want to personalise the cards with faces. Rather than upload large photos it is better to use Picasa to crop the faces you want to use.. Then EXPORT the cropped version to a folder names FACES. Go back to the library and right click on the photo and select UNDO EDITS to restore to the original photo. You will always easily find the faces you want when uploading to JIBJAB.
JIBJAB ELFME has many FREE versions. You can join and there is no subscription. There is a subscription version which offers a greater selection.
When you have finished your card you can Email it to one or several recipients. It will insert a link which means the recipient is not downloading a large file.
Email it to yourself and then copy this link which means you can include it in any Email or Skype message

My sample of Save a Tree!
            http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/5xW1HhquGEYdrx78OP7J

            Care Ecards http://www.care2.com/ecards/

Very good site for all types of Ecards.. This is also a free service but if you register it will store and Email address Book and Event reminder

            Tips:
Beside each card look for a small icon of a video camera . This indicates and animated card. A very good alternative to the Jacqui Lawson Cards. The recipient is only viewing when using the link so no download is started until that stage.
You can select a stamp for the envelope
Send a Reply to the sender
Add the recipient to address book and other options including BLAND COPY!

            EMAIL- FAQ

1.Q. How Can I Automatically Empty the contents of my Deleted items Folder

A: Let Outlook Express Empty the Trash Automatically When You Exit
To make Windows Mail or Outlook Express empty the Deleted Items folder automatically when you quit the program:

            · In Outlook Express:
            · Go to the Maintenance tab.
            · Make sure Empty messages from the 'Deleted Items' folder on exit is checked.

            · Click OK.

2.Q: Can I permanently delete a suspicious message from My InBox

A: Delete a Message Bypassing the Trash in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

            · Hold down the Shift key while pressing Del.
            · Click Yes.
Be careful with this shortcut, though, since your message won't be recoverable once deleted this way.

            3. Q: How can I sort the Mail in My Inbox

A: Sort a Mailbox in Windows Mail or Outlook Express
To change the sort order of a folder in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

            · Click on the heading of the column by which you want to sort.
            · To reverse the order, click on the same column heading again.
            · You can include additional columns not shown by default. Select View Columns... from the menu and check all desired criteria.

            4. Q: Can I always open my Emails Full Screen?

A: Open Emails Maximized in Windows Mail or Outlook Express
To make Windows Mail or Outlook Express open email messages to windows that make use of all the available screen space automatically:
            · Open any email in its own window by double-clicking it in its folder.
            · Make sure the window is not maximized.
            · Move the window so that its top left corner coincides with the top left corner of your screen.
            · Grab the handle in the window's bottom right corner with the mouse and drag it to the bottom right corner of the screen.
            · Close the message window.
            · You can use this aspect to make your emails occupy all of the screen without maximizing them in future.

            5. Q: Message List is too difficult to read. Can I increase the font size?

A: Change the Font Size of the Windows Mail or Outlook Express Message List
To make Windows Mail or Outlook Express use larger or different fonts for message lists and other interface elements:
            · Select Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
            · In Windows Vista:
            · Make sure Control Panel Home is highlighted.
            · Click Customize colours under Appearance and Personalization.
            · Follow the Open classic appearance properties for more colour options link.
            · In Windows XP:
            · Go to Appearance and Themes if available.
            · Click or double-click Display.
            · Go to the Appearance tab.
            · Click Advanced.

            · The Icon font is used for the list of folders and messages as well as toolbar icon text in Windows Mail or Outlook Express.
            · Click OK.

            6. Q: How can I quickly build my Address Book?

A: If you make it a habit to add everybody to your Outlook Express address book as soon as they send you a message, your email address book will grow quickly. Outlook Express provides a fast and easy way to do that.
To add the sender of a message to your Outlook Express address book:
            · Highlight the message in the message list.
            · Select Tools Add Sender to Address Book.
This inserts the sender with the name and email address that appeared in the From: header of the message to your Outlook Express address book.
With this method Outlook Express will not ask any questions. If you want to edit the entry, you have to do it in the address book.

            Or
Select Tools Options/Select Automatically put people I reply to in my Address Book

7Q. How do I sort my Address Book into Alpha Order?

A: To sort the Outlook Express contacts pane alphabetically:
            · Click on the Contacts button on top of the pane.
            · Select Sort by Name from the menu.

            8. Q: How can I check that my Email has been received.?

A: To get some idea of your every email's fate, you can request read receipts. Typically, the recipient will be asked to confirm the message has been opened.

            Type your Message
            Select Tools /Select\Request Read Receipt

While this is no guarantee the content has been read or even understood, such read receipts can still be useful to rule out some possibilities of failure and maybe quiet a wandering mind.

            9. Q: What does this message mean ? Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

A: Within the message will be the reason that the message cannot be delivered. It is usually because the address is not correct. Check the address. Remember EMail addresses are case sensitive. Check for spaces, commas and dots!

If you are having trouble with an Email address then ask the person to send you one. Then hit the REPLY and this will add the address to you book correctly.

            10. Q. What is Plain Text messages or HTML

A: With Plain text you cannot use character or page formatting nor add clipart. HTML will allow you to send photos, and type your text with font changes, colour and most other word processing formatting.

            JUNK MAIL

Please read and put into action. It does greatly lessen the chances of receiving unwanted or destructive mail as well as viruses etc.,

It is an excellent message that ABSOLUTELY applies to ALL of us who send e-mails. Please read the short letter below, even if you're sure you already follow proper procedures.
Do you really know how to forward e-mails? 50% of us do, 50% DO NOT
Do you wonder why you vet viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it?
Every time you forward an e-mail, there is information left over from the people who got the message before you - their e-mail addresses and names. As the messages get forwarded along, the list builds and builds and builds. All it takes is for some poor person to get a virus and his or her computer can send that virus to every e-mail address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them, or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and that person will make five cents for each hit.
How do you stop it? There are several easy steps:
            1. When you forward an e-mail DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That's right DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever it is you know how to do. It only takes a second. you MUST click the "forward" button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't click on "Forward" first, you won't be able to edit the message at all.
            2. Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person do NOT use the "To" or "Cc" fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the "BCC" (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don't see your "BCC" option, click on "To" and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose "BCC". It's that easy. then you send to "BCC" your message will automatically say "Undisclosed Recipients" in the "To" field of the ones who receive it.
            3. ALWAYS REMOVE any "FW" in the subject line. You can re-name the subject or even fix spelling.
            4. ALWAYS hit your "Forward" button from the actual e-mail you are reading, not from the one who sent it to you!! Ever get e-mails where you have to open ten pages first to read the one page with the wanted information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish to be view, it eliminates extra e-mails people have to wade through.
            5. Have you ever received en a-mail that is a petition? It states a position, asks you to add your name and address and then requests that you forward it to ten or 15 people or your entire address book? As it is forwarded on and on, it can collect thousands of names and e-mail addresses.
FACT: That petition is worth a lot of money to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and e-mail addresses on it. If you want to support the intent of the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the most effective source. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than does a laundry list of names and e-mail addresses on a petition.
And think about this --- Who is supposed to actually send the petition in after the names are collected? And don't believe the ones that say that the e-mail is being traced. It just isn't so!
            6. On of the worst e-mails is the one that says something like this:-
"send this e-mail to ten people and you'll see something cute run across your screen",or sometime they just ease you by saying something really good will happen soon TRUST ME IT JUST ISN'T GOING TO. Some the very same e-mails were doing the rounds ten years ago!
Don't let the bad luck e-mails scare you either. Trash them (which is possibly why I haven't won the lottery yet!)
            7. Before you forward an Amber Alert or a Virus Alert or some of the others floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward them. Most of them are junk mail that have also been circling the net for YEARS! Is it real or not? Almost everything that is questionable can easily be checked out at http://www.snopes.com/. Take that moment. If it's not real, don't pass it on.
Please, let's stop the junk mail and the viruses!

            EMail Options - Format Text

            Text Settings

Outlook Express has two options for the messages. Plain Text and Rich Text Format (RTF). The purests will always use the Plain Text as it is unlikely to hide any virus attachments but most of us like to use different fonts or settings in our personal mail.
To do this Click on Format - select Rich Text and at the top of the Message Box you will see the tool bar which is familiar within WORD. It allows you to change Font, Size Colour etc.

            Default Font
You can also change the Default Font which will be selected everytime you start an EMail
            Tools - Options - Compose

In this section you will note the standard fonts and sizes for Mail. These can be changed to your preference.

            EMail Options-Signature

Creating an Email Signature in Outlook Express
To create an email signature, go to the Tools menu, from Outlook Express' main window, and click Options. On the Options dialog that opens, select the Signature tab.

From this tab, you will be able to create and manage email signatures for all email accounts you have setup in Outlook Express.

To create a new signature, click the New button under the section labeled Signatures.
A new email signature, labeled Signature # 1 - Default Signature will appear. Start by clicking Rename, to choose a more meaningful name.
Until you add more email signatures, a single signature will always be the "default signature". To create the signature text, which will appear at the bottom of your emails, simply type in the Edit Signature text box.

Manually Insert Your Email Signature in Outlook Express
Regardless of your Email Signature Settings, Outlook Express always lets you manually insert into emails a signature of your choice. To manually insert a signature, click the opened email's Insert menu, click the Signature sub-menu, and choose an email signature.
Tip: the "Signature" sub-menu is disabled unless your cursor is inside the email body.

            GMail Address Book

How do I Export Addresses from my Outlook Express contacts?

You can import address books from Outlook Express into your Google Mail account.

First, you will need to format your contacts as a CSV file.

From Outlook Express: Open the Address Book
o Select File > Export > from the main menu.
o Select Other Address Book and then Text File (Comma Separated Values).

Browse location to Save File and Name it. Good temporary location is on the Desktop

Select the fields for Display Name and EMail Address
            o Click Export.

To import contacts to Google Mail:

            1. Create a custom CSV file or export the address book from your other webmail provider or email client as a CSV file. (as per instructions above)
            2. Log in to your Google Mail account.
            3. Click Contacts on the left side of any Google Mail page.
            4. Click Import.
            5. Click Browse... and locate the CSV file that you would like to upload.
            6. Select the file and click Import Contacts.
Once you have successfully uploaded the document, a dialogue box displays the number of new entries that were added to your Contacts list.
A few things to keep in mind:
            · If some entries are not included in your Contacts list, Google Mail informs why these entries were left out.
            · If you import information about a contact that matches the email address of an existing entry, only the most recently uploaded version of that entry remains in your Google Mail Contacts list.
            · If you receive error messages when attempting to import your contacts, you may need to edit your CSV file.

            Tiscali EMail Account Holders

            IMPORTANT INFO

Many of you have Tiscali EMail accounts and some have recently received notification that Orange has taken over this provider.
Information is somewhat unreliable as the notification states that after 30th September your incoming mail will be transferred to a new account with Orange but using the same User Name and Password.
It also states that this account has already been set up and ready to use. Both Heather and I have been working to establish if the accounts are working and as yet there does not seem to be a POP for orange correo.
If Tiscali is your only active EMail account, I suggest you take urgent action now to establish another EMail account and advise your contacts accordingly.
Those of you who use Tiscali as a dial-up then I suggest you also setup another Dial up connection with another free server.
I will post some notes to the blog but I hope you understand this is a mammoth task to cover all options.
Heather has posted below how to set up a Spanish Yahoo EMail account and change the language to English.
I will soon post how to create another Free Dial up connection and create a GMail account linked to Outlook Express.
Most importantly if you have registered a tiscali email account as your contact with any service (Skype, ADSL provider, Airlines,Newsletters, Mag subscriptions, Web Mail etc) these will have to be notified. Frequently lost or forgotten passwords are retrieved by re-sending the info to your registered email account. If that account is defunct then password retrieval is not possible.

            Yahoo EMail Account

How to set up a Yahoo.es email account
Open Internet Explorer and go to http://www.yahoo.es/
Click on ‘Crear tu cuenta gratis’ to create a free email account.

The Form will display and it should be pretty self explainitory. However if you need a copy with the English translation then make your request on the WE Group Help Forum and the form will be sent to you.
            Tips:
Check the availability of your user name first. It can contain letters, numbers, underscores and ONE full stop but NO SPACES

Make sure your password has minimum 6 characters and CAPS and small cases are recognised as different characters. A good rule of thumb is to always use all small letters.

All boxes which are starred * must be completed.
Security question: you can write your own and the answer must be a minimum of 4 characters
UNCHECK the box for Ofertas if you do not want to be on the mailing list of Yahoo.es

Click Acepto to agree to their terms
            Bottom of Form

If you make an error, the email id you have chosen does not exist, or the code number is input incorrectly, you will be asked to correct it before continuing further.
Your email account is then set up and details are confirmed. Click on ‘Volver a Yahoo!’
Click on Pruébalo ahora to enter mail.
Firstly, click on ‘Cambiar Version’. This will revert back to the older version of Yahoo mail that allows POP3 accounts.

To change the language to English, click on Opciones at the right hand side. You will be requested to input your password.

Click on Modificar in the section of ‘Informacion de Usarios’. Change the language from Español to Reino Unido. Click on Accept Terms button. Be sure to click on Finished when you have done.

To allow Yahoo mail to be used with Outlook Express click on Options, POP Access & Forwarding. Check the radio button for Web & POP access.

How to set up Outlook Express to receive Yahoo mail

In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."

If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.

            Click "Next."
            Click "Finish."
            Troubleshooting instructions.
If you followed the above configuration steps, you should be all set. However, if you cannot send or receive mail with your email client, try the following tips.
Please ensure that you have selected the option for POP access on the Mail Delivery Status page of your Yahoo! Mail account. To check this, log into your Yahoo! Mail account, then click "Options", and finally "POP Access & Forwarding". Select the radio button next to "Web & POP Access" and click on "Save"

            Select the "Mail" tab.
            Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
            Select the "Servers" tab.
Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
            Click "OK."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
            Select the "Mail" tab.
            Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk."
            Select the "Advanced" tab.
In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Do not check this box if you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server once you have received them in Outlook Express.

Saving Photos attached to an EMail

Photos that have come as attachments to an Email are only stored in the Temporary Internet Folder .. so if the Email is deleted then the photos are as well.

These photos are sometime too large to view on the screen within an Email and also you might like to store them for printing or viewing later

            Open Outlook Express

Double Click on the Email with the photos in order to fully view and see the Attachment Line

Right Click ANYWHERE in the Attachment line and Select SAVE ALL.

Check the SAVE TO box .. Use the Browse Button to Select My Documents/ My Pictures and the Folder where you want the photos stored.

            Click on SAVE

If they have been successfully saved in any folder in My Pictures.. the next time you open Picasa the photos will be indexed.
You can now view the photos normal size… edit… use Photobox to order prints, insert in a Photobook etc etc

            Address Book Tips

Copied from a Tips Sheet printed this week so WE Group is highly topical!.. Sylvia

            A Quick Update
Do you use Outlook Express for your main e-mail program? If you do, I'm sure you also use the Address Book feature that comes along with it, right? I mean, it's the easiest way to store all of your contact information. So, if you don't use it, you're really only hurting yourself! (Now, if you're not sure how to add an entry to the OE Address Book, just go to Tools, Address Book, New, New Contact and fill in the information).

Okay, so once you have your Address Book up and running, it's probably safe to say that every once in awhile, you have to go in and update an entry. You know, maybe one of your contacts got a new e-mail address or maybe someone moved to a different home address, etc. Whatever the case may be, you have to go in and change the information around. So, what's the quickest way to do that?
Well, is a double click fast enough for you? Try it with me. Open Outlook Express and go to Tools, Address Book. Find an entry that you need to update and just double click it. Once you do that, the Properties window will pop right up and you can go through the different tabs and change the information as needed. Now, with the old way, you had to open up your Address Book, right click on an entry, choose Properties, etc., etc. But now, there's no more extra clicking for you. This is, hands down, the easiest way to update your Address Book. Check it out, my friends!
