Creating a WebBlog (Blogpot)

What is a Weblog?

An online journal or diary that is frequently updated.
A public Web site where users post informal journals of their thoughts, comments and philosophies that is updated frequently, which normally reflects the views of the blog's creator.

How to Create a Personal Blog
You must have a Gmail Account and Password
Open Internet Explorer go to http://blogger.com/
Sign in with your Email Address and Password

Create Your First Blog

You need to input a name and this must be unique. Remember it is the name that you will give to friends so should not be too long or complicated but being unique makes it difficult to get your first selection. Input the name and then click Check availability. The system will offer you alternatives based on your name but keep trying something close to your option. Try adding a dot(.) or hyphen (-) , or add a relevant number.

Select a Template

The Post Screen will appear and this is just like Word Processing typing. You can insert a Picture (jpg, bmp gif format) . Preview will show you the page. When you have finished then click on PUBLISH.
The address will be http://(nameyougaveit).blogspot.com/ Note it does not have the www and the dot(.) before blogspot.com is important.

DASHBOARD
After you have created your first blog and sign in it will take you to the DASHBOARD which is the starting place here-after. It is from the Dashboard that you can Post, Edit and change settings. You can add posts to a current blogspot or even create another one after checking availability of the name.

Profiles
Think of your profile as an easy way to create an "About Me" page supplemental to your blog. You can describe yourself, share your interests, and include a photograph of yourself. Your interests, favorites, and other items act as links to other people whose profiles share the same things.
How much information you share in your profile is entirely up to you. Everything is optional, so you don't have to show your real name or email address if you're shy about it. You can also choose whether to share or hide your entire profile.

Templates
What is a post template?
Post templates help users save time by pre-formatting the post editor. Some users like their posts to be formatted in a certain way. This is your Design Layout

Other Options

Check thro each of the Tabs and select the option you think most suitable. At the bottom of each page you must click on Save Changes in order to apply.

Next time we will look at some suggestions for the settings and layout.
